Employee Leaves
Employees need time away from work in various situations. Whether it’s time off from work to take care for a new child, or deal with a serious health situation involving a family member or themselves, employees should request the time that they need from their supervisor and Human Resources. Below you’ll find the different types of employee leaves along with the forms to complete the paperwork.
If you take time intermittently or work a reduced work schedule, you must be able to perform the essential functions of your job while you are at work. If you are unable to perform your job responsibilities while at work, you may be required to take continuous leave.

Oregon Paid Family and Medical Leave
Paid Leave Oregon is a state-mandated program that ensures individuals, employers, and families — of every kind — have the time and support they need to care for themselves and their loved ones when life's important moments affect their health and safety. This program provides paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child, you or a loved one's serious illness or if you experience sexual assault, domestic violence, harassment, or stalking.
Three Rivers School District has contracted with American Fidelity to administer a plan that meets program requirements and cost-sharing contribution rates set by the state.

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year for specific family and medical reasons. These include personal or family illness, childbirth, adoption, or caregiving for a seriously ill family member. During FMLA leave, employees' health benefits must continue under the same terms as if they were still working. To qualify, employees must have worked for their employer for at least 12 months and logged 1,250 hours in the past year. After FMLA leave, employees are entitled to return to their same or an equivalent job.
Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA)
The Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) provides eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave in a 12-month period for specific family and medical reasons. These include personal or family illness, pregnancy and childbirth recovery, bonding with a new child, and caring for a sick child with non-serious conditions. Employees are eligible if they have worked for their employer for at least 180 days and have worked an average of 25 hours per week. OFLA also offers up to 36 weeks of leave in some cases, such as for pregnancy-related conditions and parental leave. Unlike the federal FMLA, OFLA applies to more employers, including those with 25 or more employees in Oregon.
Bereavement Leave
Employees may take leave to attend a funeral (or alternative ceremony), to make arrangements necessitated by the death of a family member, or simply to grieve the death of a family member.
Military Leave
Exigency leave allows eligible employees to take up to 12 work weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave in a 12-month period for a “qualifying exigency” arising out of the foreign deployment of the employee’s spouse, son, daughter, or parent. FMLA leave for this purpose is called qualifying exigency leave.
